This is an open world survival horror game where you explore a post apocalyptic world in any way you want. The main idea in Project Zomboid is that you need to survive for as much time as possible before you die.
Unlike other zombie themed games, in which you do have a chance of survival, Project Zomboid comes with an inevitable death, which certainly manages to make the game even more intense. The action of Project Zomboid takes place in the region of Knox country which has been quarantined by the government.
Aside from avoiding zombies and surviving, you also need to manage a variety of other things too. You need to manage tiredness, pain, mental stability and hunger if you want to have a least a chance of survival.
This is why one of the main activities in Project Zomboid is scavenging for supplies in all the regions you can explore, while also making sure that you survive the process as well. There are a multitude of zombie types in Project Zomboid, with some being faster than others.
You have 3 game modes in Project Zomboid, and these are Last Stand, sandbox and survival. Survival mode is all about surviving the massive number of zombies which crawl or walk, and this game mode comes with an automatic spawn. In the case of survival you need to find supplies and keep your sanity/hunger ratios at bay. On the other hand, sandbox mode is less restrictive as you can set anything you want, such as rain amount, number of zombies, their level and so on.
Last Stand is an action packed game mode in which you need to face either steady flows of zombies or waves of zombies, depending on what you choose.
No matter the game mode you choose, you will be able to select a profession for your character and use the trait points that you receive in order to upgrade your skills.
You can find a multiplayer version of the game as well, despite the fact that Project Zomboid is still in the Early Access period. The multiplayer requires you to survive with other people against the massive number of zombies, for as long as you possibly can.
Project Zomboid uses an in-house engine that does a stellar job when it comes to recreating the zombie apocalypse from an isometric perspective. Graphics are not that impressive, but they do a great job when it comes to setting up the premise of the game!
All in all, Project Zomboid is a very interesting and action packed game. It brings a whole new perspective on the zombie survival genre and it allows you to have a great time as you figure out the next step towards surviving in a dangerous, zombie filled world!
